Core Value – Determination
Highlighted HS Varsity Baseball Athlete of the Week:
Will McConnell
Will has shown great determination in both practice and games and always does his very best for the team. He plays both second base and out field and strives to be excellent in both. He is consistently working on being a better hitter and bunter. As a result, he has had some key hits for us this year.
Highlighted HS JV Baseball Athlete of the Week:
Hunter Bishop
Hunter is a very determined athlete who has worked hard to develop in all his chosen sports. His character on and off the field also shows his work ethic in all that he does. Hunter is now showing his strong determination to recover from an injury and return to play. We are all encouraged by your strong determination, Hunter!
Highlighted HS Varsity Softball Athlete of the Week:
Cora Nelson
Cora is the varsity player we want to recognize as showing consistent determination in her coachable attitude and her efforts every day. We appreciate her great positivity through challenges and that she continually keeps after it!
Highlighted HS JV Softball Athlete of the Week:
Olivia Lyerla
Olivia has demonstrated great determination all season as she is driven to keep improving. Her work in practice shows up in games as she has really pushed to become a dependable varsity player in the future!
Highlighted HS Golf Athlete of the Week:
Dylan Zimmerman
Dylan Zimmerman is widely considered to possess the unparalleled level of determination, mental toughness, and relentless focus that every golfer from amateur to professional, both wants and needs. His career is defined by an ability to perform under extreme pressure, recovering quickly from significant setbacks, and maintaining a mentality that separates champions from the rest of the field. He views the game through a spiritual lens, fighting "the good fight" of faith and self-discipline. His integrity, kindness and honesty are highlighted during times when no one is watching, he enjoys the creation of playing the ball as it lies. This analogy is a powerful reminder that while we can’t always control where our life lands, we can resist the devil’s temptation of cheating through uncertainties.
Highlighted HS Track Athletes of the Week:
Nick Maksimov & Mikayla Rainbow
Nick & Mikayla have been working hard and showing great determination to continue and excel at their events. Nick, in distance runs, and Mikayla in Pole Vault. Everyone notices the effort they put in. They are a nice blessing to the coaches and teammates alike.
Highlighted Boys Soccer Athletes of the Week:
Ethan Reid
Ethan led the team well this year as a senior captain and recently has fought through injury but continued to play. His determination has helped the team greatly and will continue through the second half of the regular season!
Highlighted JH Baseball Athlete of the Week:
Ethan Henline
When the JH coaches think of determination, they think of Ethan Hendline. Ethan is a determined individual. Ethan was determined to get himself healthy and back on the field after becoming ill right after the start of the season. Every time he steps on the field, you can see his determination pouring through, working hard at his craft. Ethan exemplifies the word determination, especially to his team and as a teammate.
Highlighted JH Softball Athlete of the Week:
Lucy Nelson
Lucy has been a great example of what it looks like to approach the game with a servant’s heart. She communicates well with her teammates, is extremely coachable, and consistently puts in the work without hesitation. She welcomes feedback, applies it right away, and shows a genuine desire to grow—not just as a player, but as a teammate. What stands out most is her attitude. She shows up each day ready to give her best, stay positive, and carries herself with humility and respect. The way she works, listens, and encourages others is a great reflection of Christ-like character, putting others first and striving to do everything with purpose and integrity.
